Details:

Having grown up in a very unsupportive home, Adawiyah Jabbour (or AJ as she likes to be called) let her goal of becoming a filmmaker slip away. AJ’s father is a stern Lebanese man named Elias Jabbour, and her mother is a passive French Canadian woman named Yvonne Antoinette-Jabbour. Elias felt his daughter should be getting married and having kids straight out of high school instead of going to college, and he certainly wasn’t going to support a career in the arts. So Elias refused to support AJ both emotionally and financially, and Yvonne stood back and allowed this to happen. Once AJ did graduate high school she landed an underpaid job as a barista and moved into her own apartment. For nearly a decade AJ let life pass her by until she finally felt secure enough to enroll into Film Tech Institute at the age of 27, and two years later AJ would be a graduate. The problem for AJ now is that student loans and flying through her savings left her broke, forcing her to move back in with her parents. Over the next year AJ struggles with her home life, becoming independent again, trying to find a day job to support her until she’s recognized in film, her problems with alcohol and her problems men.
