Spilled is a coming of age story about Laura Lee, an Asian American teen who finds herself lost and alone. Living only with Esther Tsai Lee, her mother, Laura tries to make the best of things. Esther provides everything for Laura except herself by working long hours. Often left alone, Laura’s independence helps her deal with her teenage angst. When Esther is unexpectedly laid off, Laura and Esther are forced to confront each other and try to come to terms with their past, work through the present and have hope for a better future, together.
