Francis, an engineer and art enthusiast, became Brother Francis, a Franciscan Brother living in the United States. He left his family, his native language, and his comforts to follow the path of the Franciscans of the Renewal in the inner city of Newark, New Jersey. His story invites us to observe the vocation of those who choose to live poor among the poor, who see in the suffering of men a call to hope and joy. Its story is also one of learning how to live in a community where cultural diversity is lived. Finally, his story is inseparable from the close ties he weaves with the wounded, the bruised, with Roberto, a former criminal, with Ryan, a former heroin addict, and his family, with Mrs. Joan, whose husband and son were murdered - It is the story of a life enlightened by faith. |
