Details:

John W. Turnbull, a banker and his partner. Paul Brower, after a hard struggle to avoid it, find themselves face to face with bankruptcy. An elderly man hurries into the office at this juncture and tenders $65,000 to the bankers to be held in trust for his wife and daughter should anything happen to him on a journey he is about to undertake. Turnbull gives Jenkins, the depositor, a receipt for the money and the latter is leaving the office with it when he drops dead. Here is a strong temptation for the bankers. They succumb to it, take the receipt from the dead man’s pocket and under cover of darkness leave his body in an unfrequented part of the city. They divide the spoils and with his share Brower leaves town. Five years later he returns to Turnbull’s office, broke and bent on blackmail. The natural sequence of events brings the plight of the women he has helped to rob home to Brower and through his efforts Turnbull is forced to make restitution.
