Details:

Since it opened in 2008, the controversial new train line to Tibet has become a popular way for tourists to enter the distant mountain region. Although the Chinese have hailed it as yet another great achievement for their country, it remains a difficult place for foreigners to secure entry permits to. So what is it like to be a tourist on the highest train in the world, and just how strong is the Chinese presence in Lhasa?
