Andrea Dworkin was one of the most influential feminists of the last quarter of the twentieth century, characterizing pornography as an industry of damaging objectification and abuse, prostitution as a system of exploitation, and intercourse as coercive and degrading to women. Despite her challenging and uncompromising views, which made her a figure of intense controversy, she was nevertheless greatly respected for the quality of her writing and thought, the power of her oratory, and her great commitment to the feminist cause. Intercourse takes a multi-layered visual, narrative approach. A range of outstanding actresses will be cast to play Andrea Dworkin at different and pivotal stages of her life bringing her sweeping, passionate prose and enraged polemics to vibrant life. These ‘expressive’ ‘non-naturalistic’ re-enactments provide the narrative spine of the film. |
