A short film exploring the interaction of Yves Musard’s site specific choreography exploring Serra’s massive weathered steel sculpture, both filling the entire luminous space at New York’s Gagosian’s 21st Street Gallery. Musard moves with focus and curiosity around the ribbons of steel exploring the sculpture both literally and metaphorically with the purpose of making the viewer more aware of the sculpture’s dynamic within the gallery space. Combining motion and stills, filmmaker Keri Pickett documents the performance with a sensitivity that elevates both art-forms. Tamara Douglas-Morris writes a reflective score to accompany Musard’s simple chants. Steel // Spirit is a poetic montage of Musard’s movement in Serra’s world. |

~Dime~ : I wish I did not watch this. The original was a bit campy as times, but was a great movie....
