Vasil Levski is the most honored Bulgarian national hero who died in the struggle for the liberation of his homeland. In Sofia, at the place where he was hanged by the Turkish authorities in 1873, a monument was erected. Every year thousands of ordinary Bulgarians come here to lay flowers in his memory. Representatives of all political parties also visit the monument. The film is an ironic look at the efforts of politicians to exploit the hero’s name in their struggles for influence and power. |
