Human interaction with the elements, the higher powers, and one another, is encompassed by the addled disposition of drug and booze in a Southern tale of lust and faith. Huddled by a fire, there is no comfort in the warmth of others, but from the liquor burning in one’s belly. Three young people break off from one another as they search through the pines with the sky above and the Georgia red clay below, bleeding on boot as they make way through the ilk of their minds and shadows of their inner demons. They grind like flint in strange ritual and fail to make spark, while sinking their sins in liquor, drugs, and other spirits that calm the nerves and crack open the skull to the morning chill. Twisted and bruised they drift away without ever really escaping. |
