This music documentary feature film follows grass roots performer James Brandman gigging across the UK and the States building his new stage persona ‘’The Wonderful Digby’. The footage cuts between three key gigs (one in London / two in LA), new songs being crafted, arranged and performed in his studio, and personal interviews as he chats openly about his life on the road in pubs, small venues and open mics. Together we examine the experiences of being a ‘grass roots’ performer from the motivations to trails and tribulations. We study the song writing process and capture Jimmy creating new tracks from bare bones in the studio into actual live performance both sides of the Atlantic. We go to the very heart of a performer’s music creation, struggles and desires to reach that perfect song and live performance.
