Brickdust is the story of Boomer, a post college vagabond, more at home in nature than in the city, who returns to his home town in search of direction and connection, having run out of money. His old high school friend Waylon, obsessed with playing professional softball one day, picks him up at the train station and proceeds to get him a job working for the City Athletics Department chalking softball fields and pleads with Boomer to play on his last place softball team, The Wonderboys. Tommy, Waylon’s sidekick has gotten in over his head with a small time bookie business, alienating the Wonderboys rival, Dirk, who threatens Tommy that unless he pays up soon, he’s going to break his bones. |
