Four friends, an African, a Chinese born Australian, an Indian and an Indigenous Australian find their feet as University students and racial minorities. On top of their everyman struggles—the search for work and the desire for love—are the hurdles of acceptance and fair judgement from the eyes of an Anglo public. In empathising with these misfits, United Colours of Melbourne thematically deals with the prejudices passively held by well meaning others. |
