During their student years, Svetlana and Vadim were going to get married, despite the fact that their relatives were against their union. The lovers' happiness was destroyed by an accident - while defending Sveta, Vadim got involved in a fight, during which one of the hooligans died. Vadim was sentenced to 8 years, and Sveta found out that she was pregnant...Vadim's cousin Mikhail, in love with Svetlana, takes care of her.
