Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022) S3 E6
Dvora -8 points 4 months ago*.

Ya know, Gene Roddenberry had vision BUT he also came from a different generation, one that valued morals, integrity, individual conviction, social consciousness, community structure, and a strong sense of social justice. The writers today DO NOT have those qualities. They are of the newer generations, the self-serving generations, the generations that have made society what it is today. All they care about is creating a TV series with the best cgi to WOW viewers. I, for one, learned a lot from Gene Roddenberry’s original TV Star Trek series growing up. The show had integrity and that was important. Without Gene to lead the way this series has lost its way. Despite having a great cast this series has no integrity, no morals, no conviction, etc. The episodes are weak and sometimes ridiculously stupid. I find myself preferring to watch reruns of old Star Trek shows to get the Gene Roddenberry ‘feeling’ … to appreciate his vision and let my imagination merge with his.

Define “woke.” Bet you don’t have a clue what it’s all about.

could you elaborate?
the issue seems to be, that you are alone in understanding your point. :)

i don’t share, nor understand your opinion. i can see your point in some episodes, but yes, after this one and your usage of the word “woke” you should go and rewatch the old star trek series. or at least try the last few minutes of this episode again. there you have all of your mentioned missing points and why it is so valid and important to internalize the shown lesson and realization for today’s world.
we as humankind, and you too, need more empathy for all living beings.

I LOVE THIS SHIT! Another one for the heart, I never for the last 15ys haven´t been so exited over a 2nd movie. The first movie has become an instant classic to me, like the 5th Element- good cinema.
After all the schlob & Dei lectures this is a solid movie with all that´s good.
Maybe we get a third story? I effing hope so. This movie has earned its place, it´s here to stay.

I sort of miss those days when you only had 3 channels, not counting PBS because it had nothing good on it at that time, and you could watch one show in the season and another show on another channel in reruns in the summer…all without having to pay for it.

I loved the movie starring Matt Damon and Danny DeVito. Same goes for the movie and series The Lincoln Lawyer. Grisham never disappoints. This series looks promising. Some great characters and actors. I kind of see where this is going but its the journey that’s the entertaining part.

All right! Something just clicked for me, and this is just a guess, but it makes sense to me. As Wendy is walking to the lab where the transfer is to occur. There is the guy treating the wall around the door for what looks like charred remains. Hard to miss right? Then later she states that adult minds are too ridged to make the transfer. How do you think that they came up with this information? I doubt it was just a guess. This body Wendy has is pretty strong and I would guess that if they had to put one down they would have to hit it pretty hard and long to finish it off. I am thinking that what they are removing from the wall is the remains of an adult hybrid that didn’t take to the transfer as well as they hoped.

Was fine until the last 20 mins starting with the car chase.
At that moment it went from a bit silly to so ridiculous I stopped watching.

We didn’t have anything but rabbit ears on our tv, and it was so old, we had to go hit it on the side sometimes to keep it going.

we had this black and white tv that when you turn it off the image recedes in this zing dot like an oscillator turning off and you can see the image being sucked into the void of simultaneously infinitely dissipating and concentrating light. true story.

I don’t know. This last episode was baffling. The physical transformation? what the heck? So was he actually married to that woman, and was the teen boy his? All those photos in the box looked like many yrs worth? That surveillance tape, the guy is a criminal, what is he gonna do with that flash drive? Blackmail? I love Lehane’s writing, but this show was a bit weird and this ending? I mean why would she even get in a car with him when she knew what he was capable of, and like you said, survive that crash?

dampyiel2200 3 points 4 months ago. (Contains Spoilers)

The physical transformation made more sense to me. The dude was a narcissist. So the ending showing his reflection was what he actually looked like the whole time. The person we saw all season is what he thought in his head what he looked like. And yeah he was married to that women. I think they were just reinforcing in those pictures that is how he actually looks. And no the kid as far as I know was his step son right? Unless I missed something there. I still can’t get over the car crash though. How in the hell did she survive that barely hurt makes absolutely no sense. As a side note this is loosely based on true events. Watched a true crime YouTube video on it before this even came out.

The middle of this episode felt so out of place compared to the right of the season. How the hell does she fly through the Front windshield going over 90 mph and just have a few scraps. Was so weird. But saying that the ending was still worth watching the series.

Insufferable. Jefferies was once one of my favourite comedians and now I can’t even listen to him. I gave it a go but had to rethink what I plan to do for the next hour after hitting the 5 minute mark. I clicked X and am writing this.

His first joke attacks Johnny Cash, this isnt random. The joke is purposeful and is an attack on America by trying to strip down and denegrate one of it’s idols.

A terrific show! I really liked the fact that it was not only filmed here in South Florida (like Dexter) but a lot of the location settings were authentic as well (Nothing drives me more up the wall than when a movie or tv show pretends to be set in a location/location I’ve lived in/worked and it is obviously totally fake OR wrong). Great storylines and an terrific cast as well.

Lily23 1 points 4 months ago.

So there’s this terrible little B horror movie filmed in my town and at one point the actors are walking over the main street bridge & instead of looking over the railing & seeing the river it cuts to a graveyard. Never mind this is completely wrong for the location but what the heck is a multi-lane bridge doing in a graveyard? lol The magic of film :)

In defense of PBS, they had the Doctor Who marathons. Mostly the Tom Baker seasons too.

I don’t know, I could have done with a lot less shit & urine. I wish it had been a bit longer so that the other characters had a bit more time to wrap up their stories. Way too much Miranda time but perhaps they are leaving themselves open in hopes of doing a wedding movie (again). Also still annoyed that they keep pushing Aiden as the one who got away even after Carrie dumps him. Guess I’ll have to go back to just “hate watching” my reality shows…
