Weapons (2025)
darthdirk 2 points 4 months ago.

Maybe its a bit of that but Weapons has a similarly grounded feeling with the whole policeman/junkie plotline, the long charcter development and the “villain” being what it is.
I don’t know if its a joke they are playing with the trailer making this a real dark horror movie and then playing even the jumpscares like a clown comedy but it didn’t work for me like when the sudden change to comedy appeared in Barbarian after its tensest moment.
They tried the same thing here but it was overplayed and slapstick. A lot reminded me of a Kevin Smith style horror movie but that guy definitly knows how to end his movies while Weapons did not end with anything like a bang.

The ending fit with the message he was telling.

I really love watching this movie.

yellow_rose1 0 points 4 months ago.

Me too. It is a wonderful, feel good movie. On a day that you need to escape mentally, this is the movie to watch. It also brings me back to my son’s early childhood when my life was safe, and secure so it brings back those old emotions too.

It’s cool to see that.. Here we are, loving the kind and quirky murderous Alien that became so kind and wise in our care.. Yet I believe that not many of us really believe “They” are here.. I can’t but wonder how many of us wish that they were.. And do we believe that they would be so “persuadable” to our ways? And are we actually so loving or is it something we wish we were and therefor like to see portrayed as that we are? Could/would I have persuades Harry to spare the Earth? 😬 Is the self sacrificing mother figure Asta representing our collective longing for the matrilineal clan and tribal society from within the strictly class structured, fragmented and lonely patriarchal family nucleus?? Might the transformation of Harry actually be me changing from simple, grabbing, security hunter to care giver?? Why did they cancel this show? Fu**ing greedy CORPORATE YACHT SAILING, WHORE CONSUMING CANCEL WANKERS! Bloody COWARD CONTRA REVOLUTIONARIES..!! Well..😬 SORRY 😞😫.. They did give us this show.. 🙄Hmm.

Who in TF heard this Dale and thought to themselves “Yes!!!! Perfect this is the one we’re going to go with.” I’ll be honest, I’m only about halfway through this episode and his voice alone makes me not want to continue. There is also way too big of an emphases on pointing out certain “cultural differences” in which are only really a thing in the most liberal of social gatherings. The truth is more people today in the US are addicted to Fentanyl than act in this weird extreme social justice warrior joke of a way. I’ll give it the most I can just for nostalgias sake however I don’t see me going much further into this.

Just kind of stumbled into this, an Angel Studios production, first season is out, and just watched the first episode, which was pretty good I thought. Probably not for everybody, but is a re-do in modern times of Pentecost, after the resurrection of Christ, and what happens after that. First episode was actually pretty good, and looks like there might be another season.

“What Wednesday yells at the college students. “Sic gorgiamus allos subjectatos nunc.” We gladly feast on those who would subdue us. Is the credo that is carved on the tombstone of Mother and Father Addams in the cemetery in the movies etc.

Captains log supplemental: My favorite episode of Voyager so far, even though Kes’ arc isn’t my fav right now, I don’t think I have one yet, but I do really like most if not all of the characters on this show so far. Looking forward to the introduction of Seven in season 4, sadly a long way to go, heard her arc is nothing short of epic.

That music — “Scene D’Amour” by Bernard Herrmann (from “Vertigo”)… funny and touching scene.

I can’t look it trough.. It’s not really my “thing” thou and it might be as good as any of the shows in this category, but the women talks like they haven’t learn to at least masturbate, and the guys are saying huh.. every time they hit and aurgh.. every time they charge.. The resolution is to low and the actors not sexy enough.. The wisdoms to bleak.. It is like it is a copy of some other better show I already seen. But as I say.. I gave up in the first episode.. so what do I know, it might be a pearl that I miss.

Dvora 4 points 4 months ago.

After watching 6 episodes this series is too boring for me. I fast-forwarded most of episode 6 and what I did watch was so predictable that I could have skipped the first five. So I’ve dropped it from my watch list and probably won’t go back to it.

Try it if you’re a Stephen King fan. His novels tend to be super long. But be prepared for a very slooow burn. Pun intended.
