Letterman was the bomb back then. I’d like to smoke a doobie before the show and laugh at everything Letterman said. By the time it was over I was ready to sleep. UHF was a great little dial. Dialing in on shows like ST. Elsewhere or the old Emergency from the 70’s

Hilarious for sure. Loved that guy. Letterman was way crazy when he was young. And he wasn’t an Anti-American nazi either.

Fabulous movie. Oldman is a very bad man in this. For me it solidified what a great, versatile actor he is. Bacon gave his best performance in this. It must have been a grueling character to play. Christian of course sealed the deal as a supporting actor in this movie. Great casting and directing.

Very simple and easy, but really fun show. Like it a lot!

They’ve been teasing the Frank & Victoria romance since the first episode and it pisses me off nothing’s happen after three seasons lol

Boraes 2 points 7 months ago.

Agree 100%. Many similarly styled sitcoms are just too slapstick and full of canned laughs for my liking but surprisingly, and luckily, they’ve managed to avoid that with this show. Hope it keeps trundling along for a fair few series.

She had a bunch of them like All My Children, Edge Of Night, General Hospital, As The World Turns, but Days was the big one. I drove my brother crazy since I followed it up into the early 90’s. After John DeLancie who played Eugene was gone, I stopped. Also preferred the original Roman & never liked Victor. HAAA! Soaps….

Mom also watched a lot of daytime talk, such as David Letterman’s 1st show, Merv Griffin, Mike Douglas, Dinah Shore & so on. I like those more than soaps, especially Mike since he had musicians like KISS & John Lennon on. They all had magicians like Ricky Jay, Blackstone, Amazing Randy, etc. All those shows were like Johnny Carson, just daytime.

My twin brother was forced to play sports. I never understood men playing a children’s game chasing a ball around with each other. Instead I ran track, did martial arts, raced BMX & rode a skateboard, haha.

random000 4 points 7 months ago.

Nope. Children’s games. What I did is exercise. I have two sets of twins, weigh less than 100 lbs & have black belts in Jeet Kune Do, Tai Quan Do & Wang Chun & can leg press more than 500 lbs. That’s exercise.

It wasn’t ez-pz in those days, haha. Our mom watched a lot of soap operas, mostly Days Of Our Lives. But the good stuff we liked was on UHF. We’d come home from school & find Bugs Bunny, Gilligan’s Island, Little Rascals & stuff like that. Mom also liked game shows, so Price Is Right was big as was Joker’s Wild, Match Game, $20,000 Pyramid & other stuff I can’t remember haha.

Lucky you, haha. Can’t stand the cold though. We had an antenna. That’s how we climbed to the roof of the house since that was the best place to toke. We had one of those on our tv. Picked up nbc, abc, cbs, pbs as well as a local station and then on UHF got tbs from Atlanta, wgn from Chicago as well as 25, 34 & 43 from Oklahoma. Those channels were the ones that had all the good stuff like Star Trek, One Step Beyond, Pink Panther, Stargate SG1, Bizarre, Benny Hill, Outer Limits, Doctor Who, Fawlty Towers & so on. VHF wasn’t fun, but UHF was okay.

oh I know it. It went down for several days during the winter. I was so pissed. I was smack dab in the middle of watching old reruns of Alice. Right before Polly Holiday left to do her own spin off. I was so upset. I was on a roll. By the time it came back up I’d lost interest. I had watched the best seasons by that time anyway. hehe

random000 4 points 7 months ago.

That’s right. It was down for a long time over winter since the site had been attacked. We were getting several things from there at that time such as operating systems as well as shows like Bizarre, Benny Hill & The Addams Family.

SCTV Network 90 (1981)

Yep, that’s where we discovered SCTV. They’d show reruns of the CBC show, then later just went ahead & brought the show over to their network after the Cinemax show. They may have even bought it from Cinemax if Cinemax ever owned it rather than just agreed to distribute it. Not sure about that transition.

Hell yes. Wanna see it bad too, haha. We’d binge the frig out of all of them back to back. Growing up had to watch SCTV late at night when lucky. Totally missed the Cinemax version since we didn’t have that. Kids In The Hall were great too, but came later for us while we touring on the road, so caught it later in reruns in the afternoon with AbFab and Space Ghost.

No kidding. That dude was affected by the bud from the previous flick & became quite the little toker. Keach at that time for real was (like a lot of others) quite the partier. Tommy & Richard were probably more sober than a lot of people in the 80s.
