…and good luck! There’s no point ranting and raving here. No one involved in the production of this series will ever read any of this. Why take it out on us?

magically_delicious 7 points 7 months ago.

lol Besides, this adaptation is holding very true to the game. Nothing has changed, no one has forced anyone to watch anything. This truth will get down-voted anyhow. They are lurking over every positive comment like some sort of bizarre basement dweller infected mushroom heads themselves.

I don’t like love stories of any kind and skip through the mushy parts but does it have to be children now?

Ellie is 19 and Dina is 20-23. Not children.

We in the LGBTQ+ community have heterosexuality crammed down OUR throats basically from the moment we are born. Day in, day out in our faces, put into our brains, often we are forced to be someone we are not through “conversion therapy”. Shut the fuck up and stop crying every time we are represented in anything.

LOL Downvoted by Nazi fucks.

Truth. Seems a bit slow paced at times, but it really tells a heck of a story if you are willing to just sit back and pay a little attention. I have said time and time again that people have been spoiled by a lot of ‘flash bang’, and when you have an episode or two that gives you a little bit of back story or tries to explain what’s about to happen by examining a bit of plot or sub-plot, like in a series, people start screaming about ‘filler episodes, and get bored with it. Not enough action for them, as they have been spoiled by all of the excitement in most things.

That being said, a good story doesn’t always need to have a ton of action in it (though a bit here and there helps a bit, especially in Science fiction), but it does need to draw you in, and keep your attention. Like the person above you said, and I can’t type the name, ‘it’s like a magnifying glass into the Star Wars Universe’.

I will admit, though, it could move at a slightly faster pace for me at times, but just the same, it has something to it that really does keep me drawn to it. Not everything is lightsaber battles or Starship battles, and I think that this is actually the first time I have ever seen some focus on the aftermath of those things, and both the victims of those battles, as well as those who fought them. For me, I think that’s one of the things that makes it so interesting.

I think I’m done with the show because like most of the post apoc shows, the original threat ( various forms of zombies etc ) become a backdrop and all the characters carry on like it’s normal. Then the show becomes just about folks arguing, falling in love, gossiping and the obligatory military oppression and generally just like watching Coronation Street ( but without the military oppression stuff).

This will be released sometime this year, right after the Handmaids Tale ends. I started watching HT, but only a couple of episodes, just couldn’t get into it. It would be pointless for me to watch this new series.

AmieWarren 1 points 7 months ago*.

The first couple of episodes of HT weren’t nearly representative of the entire series. Try it again, and watch at least the first season. It gets better as it goes along.

random000 4 points 7 months ago.

New Rose Hotel to GoGo Tales, Abel is straight up great. We’re divided in our house, but my fave is the apocalyptic 4:44 The Last Day On Earth with DaFoe. Not everyone digs that one. He then did his little bit with 42 One Dream Rush that has everyone from Kenneth Anger to David Lynch working on their shorts. The dude is groovy.

A real Chong family tour de force in Tommy’s first feature after parting with Cheech, who appears as himself in this flick. Has most of Tommy’s family in it: wife Shelby, daughters Precious, Robbi, Rae Dawn & her then husband C. Thomas Howell, as well as son Paris.

Quest for Fire (1982)

Discovered this going into high school. Very good early outing for Rae Dawn Chong, Tommy’s eldest child via Maxine Sneed. Iron Maiden also did an excellent song of this on their Piece Of Mind album.

Cheech & Chong's: The Corsican Brothers (1984)
random000 5 points 7 months ago*.

We think Cheech & Chong’s 6th movie goes fine with Monty Python member Graham Chapman’s Yellowbeard since it’s also a period piece & they’re in it, but many consider this last classic era Cheech & Chong effort to be pretty dismal. It’s wacky though & has both of their wives Shelby Chong & Rikki Chong in it, as well as 3 of Chong’s daughters, eldest Rae Dawn ex-wife of C. Thomas Howell & widely known especially for Quest For Fire, then her younger sister via mom Maxine, Robbi from Red Shoe Diaries, as well youngest sis via Shelby, Precious Chong, who’s lesser known but is stuff like According To Spencer, Show Me Yours & recently Homewrecker which she also wrote & directed.

From here these guys wouldn’t do anything as a comedy team until their Animated Movie in 2004, also 2010 Hey Watch This & their 2025 Last Movie. They were also roasted in a tribute as well as some podcasts & guest appearances. Cheech however did appear in Tommy’s 1990 Far Out Man, which has most of Tommy’s family in it such as Paris, Shelby, Robbi, Precious & Rae Dawn, including his son-in-law C. Thomas Howell.

Cheech & Chong’s 5th movie wasn’t & still isn’t well received. But we dig it since it highlights their standup comedy club roots & uses cut-away sketches also. It was co-produced by their wives Shelby (using her maiden name Fiddis) & Rikk (birth name Darlene Morley).

This special was the very first time I ever saw Python. It aired on PBS when it first came out in 1989. I had just turned 11. Found Python AND The Kids in the Hall at the same time, and talk about a life changer! Too bad it’s a very poor, wobbly tracked VHS dub. Hopefully some better versions of it are found soon! It was released on DVD as a part of the “Monty Python Live” box set back in 2001, so I know it’s floating around out there somewhere! Very good special to introduce a “newbie” to! If they don’t like these sketches, they probably won’t like any of them. LOL
