i’m excited about this. i tore through the book and can’t wait to see what they do with it. but Luke just seems weird casting. he’s almost 20 irl and he looks 17 or 18. part of what was so compelling was him being a kid and doing what he did. not just with his abilities but just how he became a leader for the other kids in the institute. i don’t know. i’m definitely gonna watch. just an odd casting. imo

Ron Howard is channeling Ingmar Bergman here, this is a mid-20th century masterpiece that just happened to be made in 2025. Mind blown. Writing, acting, pacing, suspense, conflict, plot twists, intellectual, creepingly intense, minimalist, growling orchestral score. 6/5 stars. One of the best films I have seen in a decade.

I was absolutely gob smacked on how fantastic this movie was. Most of the actors I had not heard of or watched perform before and each and everyone was a stellar performance. A great director can pull an Oscar worth performance out of anyone and Ron Howard did just that. Most of his movies have humorous overtones but this one did not. It was a thrilling mystery right up until the end. This is a story I knew nothing about. I’m glad I didn’t as it would not have been as mesmerizing if I had known any of the facts.

This was surprisingly really good!! So sad at the lives lost both human and animals and the destruction and devastation these fires left in Australia.
I didn’t think I’d be able to watch it cause yes I’m one of those that can watch movies all day long with people getting killed but the hint of an animal and I’ll cry like a baby. Animals are my passion. There were a couple of times I got teary eyed but it really doesn’t show and death.
I do think it’s worth watching.

I think all of the Jurassic World films so far have an end point where the next one could go in any sort of creative direction they want, and the next movie is always underwhelming. I appreciate your optimism, but imo at this point you definitely should expect these movies to be a disappointing mess.

Agree, it’s like too many movie franchises. They may start off amazing/genre breaking and be both really good movies and popular. However, because of this the movie execs rinse and repeat it too many times in an attempt to squeeze every $$$ they can from it. It leads to most people losing interest as the franchise loses the ‘magic’ that made them awesome to begin with.
Best example I think is Toy Story. There seems to be a new film from that franchise every 5- 7 years as they aim to cash in on the newest group of babies/toddlers as the previous one ‘ages’ our of all the toys and other merch.
