Best episode of the season for sure, after a couple of pretty bad ones. It’s lucky they’ve greenlit a third season because the speed of Colter’s personal story thus far is incredibly slow so they’ll need it to move the story forward ugh

Daisy May Cooper is hilarious! I fell in love with her and her crazy family from “This Country” back in 2017. Her real-life brother Charlie plays her cousin in the series as does her real-life dad, who plays her dead-beat dad. All three wrote This Country and the UK fell in love with their insane humour.
Daisy is an absolute hoot in “The Witchfinder” too!

My understanding after checking out some online materials: The Dutch wanted to keep the Western New Guinea (Papua) under their control, Indonesia being the nearest powerful neighbor of Papua wanted to integrate them (like India did with Kashmir and some other small kingdoms right after their independence from the British). USA supported Indonesia to keep them from becoming Soviet allies. Would’ve happened the same way even if Indonesia was a Christian or any other religion-majority. This is not about Islam. It’s about a colonial power (the Dutch) losing out to another nation (Indonesia) due to the 2nd nation’s importance to a superpower (USA) during the cold war. You should blame the Dutch and USA for screwing the Papua people for their own selfish agenda.

Not a fan of remakes, but if ever one was needed, this would do. Saw it in the theatre as a kid with my brother, it scared us then, but it was still a box office miss. Didn’t do well since Disney didn’t know what tone to give it, so it was ruined with a dose of Disney kid stuff. Serious sci-fi wasn’t a thing for them at that time. Having Slim Pickens & Roddy do voice work for kiddie type characters didn’t help, in spite of how great both actors are.

So far there have been 5 attempts to redo it, but no dice.

Hilarious call back. Brings to mind the Bill Hicks bit where he deconstructs the notion of that propaganda in his signature stage piece.

12th September 2025 release date. Mark Hamill is playing the The Major, who is a main antagonist here and a supporting antagonist in the Stephen King multi-verse. The dystopian horror novel (384 pages) this movie is adapted from was written under SK’s pseudonym Richard Bachman in 1979. I’m looking forward to this and really hoping it’s true to form.

BoochJohnson 7 points 7 months ago*.

No shit?! Cool!

I watched the trailer and didn’t recognize Hamill with his sunglasses. Nor did I read the credits here before I saw it. I usually see an interesting new trailer and then look here for the movie.

Blake Lively is suing Justin Baldoni for $400,000,000 alleging sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior on the set of this movie. The trial is set for 9 March 2026. Lively also claims Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer, mounted a plan to damage her reputation, and Baldoni has counter-sued Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds for attempting to “destroy” his career. It truly does end with them.

The Long Walk (2025)
Piglet 5 points 1 year ago.

I’m going out on a limb here and think this is the movie from Stephen King’s The Long Walk book. Here is the cast and what the movie/book is about. The cast: Sarah Levy, Rohan Campbell, Elijah Wood, Tatiana Maslany, Christian Convery, Theo James. It takes place in a dystopian future featuring a horrendous game. Made up of 100 teenage boys that are chosen at random from a list of applicants, The Long Walk sees them trek along U.S. Route 1 with no rest, and the threat of death should they fall below a speed of 4 mph more than three times. In that case, theyre shot dead on site, which is how each contestant is eliminated until there remains one solitary walker, who gets a cash award and a prize of whatever he wants for the rest of his life. By that time, however, the lone survivor is so damaged both physically and mentally that it makes living a nigh impossible task, which speaks to the storys theme of war, and the irreparable harm it causes to those who come back from witnessing such atrocities.

Lanterns
Piglet 1 points 7 months ago*.

Okay, not what I expected……it’s being described as a detective drama that’s inspired by shows like True Detective and Slow Horses. Slow Horses is a British drama, and True Detective is a rather different crime drama, so who knows what we shall expect from this series when it is finally released. Another actor has been signed, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner. Fillion said the character is not a nice person and can we really see Fillion as a bad guy? And Kelly MacDonald as Sheriff Kerry (she has been in a lot of British/Irish tv series) and Garret Dillahunt as William Macon. A lot of good actors so only time will tell if this new series is worth watching.

Man this was an explosive episode so to say the least it took almost 80 episodes but the story arc is in full swing and I am hooked, I had wondered how long they were gonna drag out the “problem of the week” format, but the build up to the current arc was done masterfully, specifically the history between Londo and G’kar.
