Becoming Cousteau (2021)
Balthasar 5 points 3 months ago*.

Monsieur Cousteau, one of my childhood heroes. I will never forget the schools of colorful fish in coral reefs - accompanied by delightful music. A feast for the senses!
That was sometime in the seventies - we had our first color TV. If we were to go back today to where he filmed, what would we find? A depressing danse macabre.

Sorry to be the party pooper, but that’s how I often feel when I watch nature documentaries. In addition to enjoyment, I have a feeling of loss.

“…the population being ruled through a fear of speaking out or saying the wrong thing…”

That’s exactly what Trump is doing. He is the root of the problem in the U.S. Of course the issue is greater than one person, but if that one person has influence over millions it can never be neglected, or it can, to the people’s detriment.

Also, I’m a Canuck, eh.

Zooke 8 points 3 months ago.

I was trying to say that the same thing was happening over here in the UK and we don’t have Donald Trump.

Saw this listed on the main wall and thought I’d check it out. Saw that it has 52 seasons and my jaw dropped, thinking it would take me a LONG time to go through them all. See that some of the earlier ones only have 1-5 episodes, that’s cool. What’s disappointing is that there are NO links for any season except 2021. Even 2020 only has a few :(

Dethkids 1 points 3 months ago*.

This is a great investigative series too, that’s a shame. My jaw dropped when I saw their is a bunch of new episodes, but am saddened no links as well.

All pleasantries aside, this is a fantastic look into Cousteau’s storied life that includes his remarkable ingenuity and inventions that have been, to this day, implemented into everyday life.

The Jury: Murder Trial (2024)
fl4g0ndry 1 points 1 year ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This was a spell binding series. It felt very real, with aspects of the crime affecting the jurors (and me) emotionally. I was even yelling at the TV. I mean if a man stops strangling a woman, goes out to his shop picks uo an industrial hammer. Goes back in and she is still unconscious on the floor and hits her in the face, not once, not twice, but three times! That’s intent! That’s murder!

coolwhip 1 points 3 months ago.

…. second season just premiered and all 4 episodes will air back to back … to back to back.
(is that right? lol)

The Jury: Murder Trial (2024)
coolwhip 0 points 3 months ago*.

what a fantastic show. . very clever idea for whatever genre this is. (reality is it?) them brits really know how to put on a show! lol a tv show that is. (so-far season 2 having just the 1 jury i think makes for a better watch but in no way am i taking anything away from the 1st season featuring 2 separate jury’s both judging the same 1 case. . -intriguing would be the proper word for it. lol either way excellent show! UK true crime is where its at! lol

Honest Review 6 points 3 months ago.

Took a while but it finally started to grow on me. Opens very slowly and confusingly but then starts to unfold into a nice story. A story of one plot of land and all the generations of people to live on said plot. Through the lives and through the ages. 7/10

I live in the UK so know little about your president, but I think the parallels are more to do with words having new meanings and the population being ruled through a fear of speaking out or saying the wrong thing than trying to paint your guy over there as the problem.
The issue is greater than 1 person and focussing your energy in that direction is misleading you away from the real perpetrators.

At this point I’m guessing Han has some kind of personality disorder or something. Everything is on film. Why deny it? Who are you trying to gaslight? Also, not keen on Dan pushing contestants to sniff out other players secret weapons. That feels like interference to me.
