Nothing new here, but I was entertained. I like “retro 80’s” movies. It is your typical high school prom slasher as the title says :)

gonna have to agree with many people on this. This is a mostly baaaaaaaaaaaad movie. Go check out “Red one” or even the lastest Hell Boy Movie. I wanted to like this because Jack Black really gives it his all but sorry a badly written movie is a badly written movie and he just has been playing in a LOT of them. had high expectations for this one and starting to think Jason Mamoa also a really bad actor.

An intriguing story. Two eps in and I’m thoroughly hooked. Will update on completion but so far I’d recommend it.

Because I’m a bit of a nerd… Aldis Hodge has a small role in this episode. He also plays the starring role in Cross (Alex Cross) which is based on the books written by James Patterson. Patterson was in the first episode of this series talking about his character…Alex Cross :)

This show has to be the most addictive TV show ever made. I started with one episode and now I’m in ten deep re-watching the final season! lol

The Last of Us (2023) S2 E7
Pringokid 3 points 7 months ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Just a heads up. Season 3 has already be signed and for those who played the actual game know where this show is headed. Sad news the show is going to shift into more of Abby’s view going forward and less and I mean very less maybe not even at all of Ellie. The game for season 2 you play only as Abby and not Ellie at all. And I did see based on information they are doing the same for the show. So yes more Abby and less Ellie unfortunately.

Feels like I’ve been cheated out of the resolution for this season… If and when it returns at a later date. I doubt I’ll be as invested to watch it as I am at this very moment.

I watched this on the account of some of the comments, one specifically, “Im a real horror fan, this is the best horror Ive seen in a minute”, this movie was, BOOOORRRING. This movie struggled to even find its own identity, its starts off as a musical that makes sense, a little over half way through, the film tries to reinvent itself as a horror that makes absolutely NO sense, and never reall goes anywhere interesting. And besides I think I draw the line at Vampires randomly breaking into an Irish Jigg.

Geogenesis 5 points 7 months ago.

The only vampire that can break into an Irish jig and it makes sense is Cassidy from The Preacher. lol

Last few episodes ( since ep 5 ) have begun to drag, and for me only one episode left. At the pace they are going it probably will be cancelled, which is a shame. It has the makings of a good series, if the show runners, writers and directors hadn’t slowed it down to a boring pace.

It’s definitely a family movie, with some gun scenes, and not what you’d expect from Guy Ritchie. If you don’t have preconceived ideas about what you want to see, it’s worth a watch. if you want traditional Guy Ritchie type films, then pass.

Sinners (2025)
Arry78 -2 points 7 months ago.

Had hoped this would be a refreshing take on the Vampire genre.
Initially excited, then it dragged…. for just over a whole hour.
A bit like driving and being stuck behind someone’s grandad, who’s out for Sunday drive on any day but Sunday.
Promising idea, tries, but fails for me.
Also felt it was trying to be a bad man, running tings modern day gangster style but set in the 1930’s.
Almost an olden days deep south From Dusk Till Dawn feel, a little Romero esque towards the end.
Wasn’t fussed about looking away towards end, texting a mate about it. Haha!
Basically, enjoyed ripping into it, more than I did watching.
I’d rather pick broken glass from my bumole than watch again….but for didn’t pay to see it, fortunately.

If a one word review was asked, I’d say “Farcical”.

They were trying to make fun of that whole culture and instead made it (more) popular. I think they were more angry with themselves than anything.

Hostage for a Day (1994)
BubbaPharm.com 1 points 7 months ago.

I gave “Hostage For A Day” a whirl. I watched a VHS copy complete with commercials, giving me flashbacks to 90’s made for TV movies.

I kept thinking, John Candy could play this role, then I found out he directed it! Decent supporting cast with John Vernon from Animal House, et. al. If I cleaned up the audio with AI, upscaled it from 380 lines, and switched George Wendt’s and John Candy’s roles, I’d up the IMDB score. :-)

Alien Avengers (1996)

Good way to put it. We have quite a lot of vhs tv dubs. Thank goodness most of the commercials were never recorded, but sometimes they were. A lot of best copies however will just be vhs tv dubs. There’s many movies that never were restored, the original prints lost, never made it the digital age, etc. Sometimes, the tv version is all there is, so no such thing as dvd quality for that stuff. Tommy Chong’s Far Out Man is in that area.

We dig this Roger Corman flick more than the Candy one, simply because Corman knew how to work with almost no budget, and his stuff has more charm to it, better editing & adjusted production to the dollars. Have to say that we really enjoy his bigger productions more, but on small scale, he did a bit better than Troma.

BubbaPharm.com 6 points 7 months ago.

I recently looked into AI’s future with cleaning up VHS and the like, especially old audio. It looks promising, but making it so cheap that niche productions get the treatment is a way’s away.

I got into Toxic Avenger but that Troma studio is inconsistent. Your reference to Corman, reminded me that I wanted to watch “Intruder” with William Shatner. Later!

Troo. George never had a lot of money thrown at his projects, but it was more about his personality than anything. Even his movie with John Candy, Hostage For A Day was fairly low rent.

His series before Cheers was good, but is also obscure by anyone’s measure.

This is what the equation is that they found pinned to the wall in his house. This appears to be a set of equations from time-dependent perturbation theory in quantum mechanics. The notes describe how the wavefunction \psi(t)\ evolves over time when subjected to a perturbing Hamiltonian \V(t). The key idea here is that the wavefunction is expressed as a sum over energy eigenstates \\phi_k\, with time-dependent coefficients \c_k(t). The exponential factor \e^{-iE_k t / \hbar}\ represents the time evolution of each eigenstate under the unperturbed Hamiltonian \H_0.

The equation \sum (H_0 + V(t)) c_k(t) e^{-iE_k t/\hbar} \phi_k = i\hbar \sum \frac{\partial c_k(t)}{\partial t} e^{-iE_k t/\hbar} \phi_k \ suggests a way to derive the equation of motion for the coefficients \c_k(t)\, which govern how the perturbation causes transitions between states.
