This is my first Wes Anderson film and I’m already a fan. I can’t wait to watch the rest of his work.

Wes Anderson’s 2nd work is already preserved in the Library Of Congress. For Wes, it’s pretty straightforward - Be Nice when there is pain because others are mean. That might be because his writing partner on this one is Owen Wilson, who keeps Wes focused.
Camilla deserved the win in my eyes….she carried so many people and truly beat her own demons !
So glad that the vain fireman and his crybaby didnt win….and Well done KYLE !
I think Kamilla was a little too ruthless during the fire challenge. I’m pretty sure she was saying all those things to get into Eva’s head and trigger a panic attack, which she did.
This episode and the last were related to LSD. Says something about the writers.
Now that’s a proper GA cliffhanging season finale. Bring on season 22!
Thanks Rando! I’m going to check out “Operator” and “Akta Manniskor”, but I’ll probably skip “Robotropolis” (lol). By the way, “Archive” would be a good addition to your list. It has the elements of “Ex Machina”, but adds the possibility of human transcendence.
Maybe I take literary analysis too seriously? I often just see various “conceits” developed within old universal themes. The writers then throw in current cultural tropes to give the appearance of a new idea. How many versions of Romeo and Juliet’s are there, besides the awesome “Strictly Ballroom”?
In regards to the archetypical soul mate, of course there’s Genesis, but the Greeks had another take. Pandora was created by Zeus just to punish man for getting fire. I’m not sure if the Greeks weren’t joking a little, because her box was excessive and you didn’t want to go into it. (lol) Also, she was far from the perfect soul mate, but maybe the myth writers weren’t being ironic when they followed up with “The Bride of Frankenstein”. :-)
It’s a fun movie if it’s up your alley. Archive with Theo James, Stacy Martin & Rhona Mitra is good. And different too, which is nice with this sub-genre, such as Operator is since it hinges heavily on the Woody Allen magical realism more than an idea of science fiction. It’s imaginative, and Pandora with The Bride are always in the shadows.
I think this is like a romantic movie for everyone, not just the ladies and sensitive types.
It’s really emotionally mature and the dialog is dense, but it all has purpose and a reason.
I remember hearing Linklater say absolutely none of it was improvised in the whole trilogy and once you’ve seen all that it’s kind of incredible if true just how well Delpy and Hawke acted their asses off.
It’s so sincere and well done and passionate.
Linklater is one of my favorite auteurs.
You know of these but others might not

They have to set so many new movies in the 1990’s because to keep it feeling real phones would interfere with everything in a plot if it were set in today’s time.
If I recall correctly, that was the time period for the book but I read the trilogy over a decade ago so …. I like the cast & will give it a try. I really enjoyed the books. Very dark. I hope they convey that in the film but I’d be surprised if they do. Everyone I recommended the books to found them dark & slightly disturbing. They are not your usual fare. Great reads tho if you like something a bit different :)
A sweet indie film about the role of empathy in relationships featuring AI as the antagonist. Martin Starr (Silicon Valley, Tulsa) is his usual self, but a little less sardonic. Mae Whiteman (Parenthood) plays the perfect wife, who turns out to have needs of her own. Alas, I wish my ‘mea culpas’ were so insightful.
FYI: It’s low budget with on set sound and no romcom soundtrack.
Thanks to random000 for sending me this link.
It can be seen on VidSrc.
And much thanks to Grasshopper Rex for helping me add VidSrc as an easy search option: https://www.primewire.tf/forum/thread/1082
Newbie FYI: Follow that link and you can install a VidSrc search option next to the Google and YouTube search buttons. That means that when there are no links posted, you can stay on primewire and get VidSrc content streamed here.
check out james hillman, he’s a jungian that says similar things, that archetypes merge and meld and transform and differentiate in different parts of our selves and with others, very applicable to cinema imo, goffman says similar things in a different way too, but thats dramaturgy i guess
Thanks for the Hillman reference! Carl Jung, also known as “CJ” by his drinking buddies, introduced me to archetypes. The movie “Altered States” kind of made it come alive. Meanwhile, Freud just kept talking about his dreams, cocaine and some hot sister-in-law.
Snark aside, I can’t help but think Goffman got his conceit from Shakespeare, “the world’s a stage and we are merely players”. Nevertheless, he got a PhD and a whole career out of evolving that meme. Go Canucks!
And speaking of memes, Richard Dawkins’ idea on undying cultural beliefs that evolve over millennia intersects with archetypes. A clunky analogy might be hardware (instinctual archetypes) versus firmware (culture memes). Just recently, audiences were wowed by Homer, but they marketed it as Ralph Fiennes in the “The Homecoming”. Everyone still found something to relate to.
IMAO our immutable instincts and drives underpin this constancy in stories. We may change how we interact and act, but not so much how we feel.
If 2025 makes you wanna hide from the world like a mouse-in-a-corner… this will tickle THAT fancy, fer sher! THIS was definately a fun watch that lit up a really slow night.

I dunno if its me getting older or what, but I felt this. Do not regret watching this! Well done
Well bust my buttons. I always thought this was a dirty Harry movie. I had to check the credits just to be sure. You are right he’s not Insp. Harry Callahan in this movie. It is one of my favorite Eastwood movies. I’ve watched it many times a long time ago
Always glad to be able to pass along a bit of movie trivia/knowledge to fellow film aficionados. Another good 80ies era Eastwood, Non-Dirty Harry/Inspector Callahan movie was “Tightrope” from The 80ies.

It’s a refreshed Kitchen Nightmares, but it’s not great.
Lose all the silly graphic overlays, the ‘who is the insider’ stuff and Gordon sitting in the van with the screens asking for various camera shots.
If you are a fan of original Kitchen Nightmares, prepare for disappointment.
this show sits up their with breaking bad ! ‘’’’’’’ love it ! 5/5
As a spin-off, it’s up there with Better Call Saul, which I think is better than BB.
The de-aging in this movie was amazing, it was an okay story, I was blown away by the technology that generated the de-aging and the aging awesome! That alone made this movie very watchable.5/5
I get your descriptive comparisons, but Her was made AFTER this (2014), so it cannot be a nod. Stranger Than Fiction, yes, but not, Her. This is a pre-nod to Her, an archetype, if you will, of very subliminal sorts. Great film and wonderful recommendation.
Understood. I used those references to simply link the ideas and promote the film as Hollywood marketers do. My real point was the archetype. See my verbose response to Random000 above.
I’ve appreciated your concise commentary on multiple films. Keep’em coming!
Fritz Lang’s original 1927 Metropolis is top of the heap. S1m0ne 2002 with Pacino isn’t too shabby. Operator with Mae Whitman is ok. The Machine with Caity Lotz. Ex Machina with Alicia Vikander’s break out role. Robin Williams in Asimov’s Bicentennial Man was a flop, but great just the same. Then there was the Kubrick - Spielberg collaboration of AI in 2001, and a few others like Robotropolis, Humans which really didn’t wrap up well, (don’t forget the original one too Akta-Manniskor) etc. - All of these with conceptualized perfect beings of some sort…

It’s on a different website but they uploaded the Australian version in this spot. So already have it. Need the actual British new one. Little Alex Hornnnnnnnnnnneee
Right on. Audios are good for lots of people, sighted or not. It’s great for people with no attention spans as well as those with limited mobility.
I jumped on your BARD reference, but found I couldn’t sign up. I imagine that the copyright holders offer it to BARD royalty free, but obviously can’t do that for the general public. I still love Librivox, but some volunteer readers are better than others.
Terrific 70ies era Clint Eastwood, Non-Dirty Harry character movie. One of my favorite early Eastwood directed movies (always interesting and bit humorous to see Clint’s girlfriend at the time, Sandra Locke, appear in this one as well as a few other movies they made together)

Loved the first season thought it was a really quirky spin to the whole ‘Littlest Hobo/Quantum leap’ thing were the MC meets new people/places with their own story. I think I got about 20 mins in the first episode of the new series and I realised that magic that made me love the first series was gone and haven’t watched it again since.
Yeah.. I don’t know if I CAN not watching.. 😳🥺😩😭😱
I’m weak.. I have liked her so much that I will likely die still in hope… 🥹🤥😵💫💥😵
This is like Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares

I just discovered this show. 5 episodes in and its pretty good so far. I thought her hair was a wig. Looks fake for some reason. Especially when shes wearing a ball cap. I agree she does give off Columbo vibes but I dont like that they had to cheapen it by giving her a super power.
This was so disturbing, at times I was nearly at tears for these men that are searching for love in all the wrong places. I think it comes down to these men believing that they are not worthy of real love or that they are never going to find it so they join this self destructive path out of loneliness and desperation.
I thought I had heard about all of Orson Well’s movies, but I knew nothing about this one! He was not one of my favorite actors and at times I felt he was full of himself.
Joe & Eva pretty much cancelled each other out!
Well, the release date is June 19th, but can we really see Topher Grace as the opium kingpin? I think he is capable of having a mean streak and underneath that baby face.
Jeez… so sick of all the ‘Tyler Perry’s’ shows. We get it, you’re producer/director of trashy tv who want’s everybody to know your name and that the most important thing….
You so right, She is kind of very sexy and cool.. But this is so diminishing her.. How can she agree to this?? Is she stupid? Is it MONEY??

This season is just glorification of the actress and it is awful.

Gordon Ramsey is a horror show that gleens endlessness amounts of money from the innocent . Only one person on any of his shows ha ever gotten a job as a professional chef. He is an American lie!!
Meh, It was far better when she was hunted. This ship is sinking..
This season is just glorification of the actress and it is awful.
Monsanto developed and created the defoliant 2-4-D (aka Agent Orange), which was used extensively and excessively during the Vietnam era. Being on to something that had potential non military use, this product was reformulated and made available to consumers under the product name “Roundup”. Changes to the formula (to 2-4-T) did nothing whatsoever to stop the devastating and smoldering diseases that this product still creates. Use it with extreme caution ⚠️ or not at all…
True. What’s worse is that it’s fat-soluble, so your body can store it up to give you cancer later. That’s why my grandfather, like many vietnam vets, still receives an “agent orange” check along with his military pension. He’s 75 and healthy thankfully, but many veterans weren’t as lucky. I’m pretty sure “First Blood” begins with Rambo going to see his buddy, and then finds out the guy died of cancer because of Agent Orange. Fiction sure, but close enough to the trutth.

Shame on them for glorifying LSD… and that’s not how it works, or how it’s sold (anymore). And, I want some! hahaha
Scientific Consensus on Safety:
The overwhelming scientific consensus is that GMOs currently available for consumption are safe for human health.
Major scientific organizations such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (.gov), the National Academies, and the World Health Organization have stated that GMOs are as safe as their non-GMO counterparts.
Studies examining health trends in regions with high GMO consumption compared to those with low consumption have found no significant differences in cancer rates, obesity, diabetes, or other health problems.
Respectfully, do you believe everything your government endorses to make money? I’m wondering if you realise that GMOs were envisioned as a way of making food more appealing, not at all for nutrition or health. It was and is a money grab. Evil Capitalism defined and recognised. Just like opioids, we won’t know the truth until it’s too late. Just say no! How can naturally grown foods be a lesser than choice?? It’s absurd to allow GMOs at all for any reason.

Honestly can’t think of a year in which he was not active…
