So if I fast fwd through all the music how much of the movie is left? Hopefully at least 50%. I’ll find out as soon as the download finishes.

Did anyone notice besides myself the comment that Valentina (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) said when she saw Alexei (David Harbour)? “Who’s this old Santa?”….was this a dig for his role in Violent Night?

Sinners (2025)
Twixtid 1 points 7 months ago*.

I watched this on the account of some of the comments, one specifically, “Im a real horror fan, this is the best horror Ive seen in a minute”, this movie was, BOOOORRRING. This movie struggled to even find its own identity, its starts off as a musical that makes sense, a little over half way through, the film tries to reinvent itself as a horror that makes absolutely NO sense, and never reall goes anywhere interesting. And besides I think I draw the line at Vampires randomly breaking into an Irish Jigg.

Well, I guess enough people didn’t like this supernatural series! Amazon cancels fantasy horror show The Bondsman.

Some news about a spin-off if you’re a SWAT fan! Shemar Moore will be back to star in a new show, reprising his role as Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson in a 10-episode sequel. Sony gave the go ahead on this new series even though “S.W.A.T. Exiles” has not yet been sold to any outlets, either domestically or internationally. Good news and the finale was really good and no surprising endings.

I passed through primary school in the 60’s…back then, every other Saturday, our school would actually turn the multi-purpose room into a kids theater so the moms could get a break from us young hooligans and savages…

LOL… It wasn’t for Mom to have a break… It was so they actually knew where we were for a few hours, once a week.

This is so terrible what happened to this woman. Essentially the police kill a bed ridden woman. It is so ironic that her first role was in a movie called Stand and Deliver and now the cast members are fighting for her to be recognized at the Oscar awards and her Mom is fighting a wrongful death suite on her behalf against the Police department that in my opinion, murdered her. RIP Vanessa

Recalls old school all-star scavenger hunt type movies such as 1979 Scavenger Hunt itself & more properly the original 1963 It’s A Mad Mad Mad World. Midnight Madness is Michael J Fox’s 1st film. Treasure Hunt is from 2003, but Million Dollar Mystery is from 1987 by Richard Fleischer, son of famed Betty Boop animator Max Fleischer - and is the film that famed stuntman Dar Robinson died making.

Of course all the Indy movies, Pirates Of The Caribbean, National Treasure, DaVinci Code & Jumanji stuff are scavenger hunts, but are less wacky & packed with celebs as they are more fantasy adventures centered around a single star with others orbiting around them.

Then there are movies that are a different kind of scavenger hunt such as Simon Pegg’s Fantastic Fear Of Everything where he goes everywhere through everything looking for himself. Aubrey Plaza’s To Do List is a scavenger hunt of experiences she has to dig up however she may in order to check off.

Another check off list movie would be 100 Girls. A lot of flicks like this tend to be more serious, even existential though. Most hero tales are serious scavenger hunts, such as Odysseus or Star Wars & the ultimate - The Lord Of The Rings.

To stretch this more, Lay The Favorite is somewhat in that vein where it’s a search for the deal in a mentor-mentee sort of way, but that’s just a flavor & not within the genre. 1994s Greedy is bit more back on track. Steve Martin goes on a hunt with Eddie Murphy in Bowfinger for shots to make a movie.

The entire Hangover series is really just a scavenger hunt but this time with an ensemble more or less cooperating rather than competing. Road Trip & later Sex Tape also use ensemble or duo comedy to find their goal. Mel Brooks 1976 Silent Movie is a buddy movie in search of a successful deal & follows scavenger hunt tropes applied toward its goal. Zombieland is a type of hunt in the vein of Harold & Kumar.

The scavenger hunt genre itself is comedy though, pretty madcap & slapstick, full of a large cast of celebs that work well as co-stars without being leads themselves, everyone against everyone & not really an ensemble since the genre requires that the journey toward the goal brings out the worst in everyone since it’s competition & not cooperation. You know - like western capitalist dogma.

You people got to watch movies at school?

Any movies we watched were educational. We DID have monthly movie viewings…. after school…. for a dime … bag of popcorn was a nickel. And they usually got something fairly decent to play… usually one of the Disney movies, either a cartoonish movie like Bedknobs and Broomsticks or Escape To Witch Mountain. The (original) Incredible Journey. Old Yeller.

We’d all sit on the floor in the gymnasium and they’d project it (movie-sized) on one wall.
(This all pre-video tape era…Yeah, I’m old.)

Finally, in grade 9, I got a teacher who was more ‘outside of the box’ and we got to watch The Dambusters and Bridge Over The River Kwai while studying WWII.

You got to see great stuff! We saw a lot of old school disney nature documentaries at summer camp along with Jaques Cousteu and Mutual Of Omaha stuff, including some of the stuff you listed like old yeller, Witch Mountain, Bedknobs & Broomsticks (with Elsa Lanchester The Bride Of Frankenstein, no less!) Also got to see Blackbeard’s Ghost, Shaggy DA and some of the Herbie movies. All summer camp at the lake though… not at school….

At school they just recycled the same flicks over & over. What we saw at age 6 we saw all the way to age 16, so knew every line of those movies. Our main fun in school was once a month, there was a 5th grade history teacher named Mr. Williams, and he would bring his guitars & perform for the middle school & primary school kids. He’d do an acoustic set that did stuff like Jim Croce… Bad Leroy Brown & so on, then Jim Stafford such as Wildwood Flower, Spiders & Snakes, then Shel Silverstein songs like Boy Named Sue…

Then he’d plug in his red electric guitar & do stuff like Love Potion Number Nine, Octopus’s Garden, All You Need Is Love, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Willy Wonka’s Pure Imagination and some popular disney stuff like Spoon Full Of Sugar & I Love To Laugh. He got major label attention, so stopped teaching & drove on his way to Capitol Records to sign a contract, but died in a car crash on the way there. RIP Mr. Williams. He made a lot of kids happier than Baby Jane ever did, haha. Loved that guy.
