| watch a lot of True Crime Documentaries and am not often shocked by human depravity but after seeing the interviews of the 2 killers in this I am now sure pure evil does exist

I get it. It was the perfect ending to a perfect story.

Shōgun (2024)
Alien 1 points 5 days ago.

Just a week after it was reported that Hiroyuki Sanada would return for another Shōgun season, FX and Hulu announced they are developing two new seasons of the acclaimed drama.
In an announcement on Thursday, FX revealed that it would be teaming up with the estate of author James Clavell — who wrote the original Shōgun novel in 1975 — to extend the story into two additional seasons. Shogun Seasons 2 and 3 are both currently in development, and a writers room is being assembled. Woohoo!

This is one of the films my mom insisted I watch when she thought I was old enough to get the messages within. There are worse ways to parent a child.

Abe Fr0man 2 points 5 days ago.

Thanks for the write up. Would never have seen this, otherwise. The fact that Ravi Shankar did most of the music makes this an undiscovered gem.

She’s a good egg. We had to go over Keyes’ work again at uni. It’s that significant.

An examination of many things including ethics & developmental psychology. Well done by Cliff Roberts as well as Claire Bloom from The Illustrated Man by Bradbury & original Clash Of The Titans.

Sasquatch Sunset (2024)
SheWatches 1 points 5 days ago.

It is rated R for sexual content, frontal nudity, so I wouldn’t let kids watch this one. This movie reminds me of Clan of the Cave Bear although the plot is different. I’m not impressed with it. I wouldn’t watch it again and I don’t know what to say about watching it all the way through except once you see it, it’s kinda hard not to stop seeing it. However, it’s original and definitely different.

Classic. So many good actors/actresses in this one. So young, too. Ahhh… the 90’s. It’s a bit tragic, the story. But, that’s how the cookie crumbles. I love the ironic ending, though. 4/5✨

Wrong Places (2024)

They’ve already tried evil/horror Winnie-the-Pooh, so how about evil/horror Dr. Suess for this one:
From there to here,
From here to there,
Cannibal Rednecks are everywhere!

Humane (2024)
Hans Zarkov 2 points 5 days ago.

My suspension of disbelief does about as well as the old Tacoma Narrows suspension bridge did when the idea of controlled euthanasia of a large segment of the population is the major plot point - but only because of the “controlled” part. The reality is the wars that would be fought over the dwindling resources and/or the massacre of ecological refugees fleeing to places where it’s not as badly devastated is our version of population reduction. Or if it’s internal within a country, more like Soylent Green than The Road Warrior.

It’s more of a nitpick than showstopper for me though - some of my favorite SF stories are the ones where the authors come up with unique post-apocalyptic societies (not including “young adult” orientated stories where a single teenager changes the entire world order by being plucky and self-confident).

Tarot (2024)
Lazeistheman2 1 points 18 days ago.

Pretty decent movie, starring Ned Leeds, pretty good comedic actor.

Hans Zarkov 1 points 5 days ago.

I’ve been reading Tarot cards - the deck created by Alastair Crowley, as it happens - for over 30 years now and no one’s ever warned me about “the sacred rule of Tarot”, and the worst evil I’ve ever summoned was something that made my date pass out from drinking too much just before we slept together, once. Mildly annoying, but hardly unspeakable. ;) hehe

That said, I’m looking forward to a non-cam version. There haven’t been enough escapist “creature feature” type horror movies that don’t try and teach a very heavy-handed lesson. Abigail sort of fits the bill, but I’d rather have another Night at Willy’s (or whatever it was called, the Nick Cage vs. animatronic weasel movie), Alien, or Chucky movie, or maybe that great GEICO “when you’re in a horror movie you make stupid decisions” commercial made into a movie. That’d be fun. :)

Oh God, really? I genuinely thought there was another episode, it’s just a place holder until June 13. We have all held our breaths to see Penelope finally get some (love) and this is where they pause? What a vicious way to keep everyone tethered to the show. Damnnnnn…
