I watched this when it came out. Its much better than I remember.

I 150% get the “duty bound’ expression, it’s very real.
Also FYI. Don’t watch the film based on Section 31. It’s just too awful to even begin to describe. Didn’t even make it 10 mins before quitting. Luckily it’s so divorced from the normal Star Trek setting/characters it’s very easy to skip over it without any regret.
When I read about what this show is about I was completely not into it. Then I gave the first episode a try and now I’m hooked. The quips alone are worth watching this ahow for. Have mercy can they put the daughter in anything more skimpy! (sarcasm)
Same here, I read it a few times didnt watch. Then so bored I deceided to give it a try. My god. The cast and acting is so good. There is too much happening but damn if that is ever a complaint when watching a series. Its just packed I dont even skip through character building or drama or family dinner type stuff. Love this series, brilliantly made. I just binged the last 6 episodes and went to sleep at 6 in the morning xD
You’re pretty much expressing the same thing every long term trekkie feels. Picard definitely had more saving graces than Discovery and SNW, At least enough to make the series worth watching. You feel kinda ‘duty bound’ to get through Discovery and SNW in the hope it redeems itself someway; some of the ships from 900 years in the future are pretty cool to check out, but otherwise you’ll just regret it and get pissed at the major story screw ups and overlooking of those that would be awesome.
I saw a similar pattern in the Picard story arcs, for my part, I felt like the Picard series which I am only half way through season 2 as of yet, gave us tidbits of these would be amazing story lines/arcs and once they introduce said tidbit, they just veer off into a completely uninteresting plot line involving some mundane crew member that we really don’t care about and get left with a bad taste in our mouth, least that’s how I feel, that being said, Picard is better than even this. I am in a mixed relationship with Picard because I love Jean-Luc, and I am a huge fan of Seven, and I also happen to enjoy two of the other characters on the show, Agnes and Rios, but other than that, the show more or less fails to impress.

I know exactly what you mean. There’s the odd amusing moment that makes you chuckle, the sfx are ofc pretty awesome but no matter how much you try to look past the characters and naff empty storylines you just can’t.
FYI next bit has spoilers. One of the things that annoyed me the most is that they end up 900 years in the future with a new ‘recruit’ who had a trill symbiote who used to be a Star Fleet Admiral. You can instantly see the possibilities for the storylines that could come from that or how to incorporate they symbiotes history and knowledge throughout episodes similarly to Dax in DS:9. Nope. Writers thought it much better to focus on her and her bf’s, both non-binary ofc, on/off long distance relationship in the few episodes they focused on her. In fact about 40-60% of pretty much every episode of Discovery and Strange New Worlds is focussed on the crews love lives.

A reboot is in the works, but I didn’t watch any of the seasons and would have 9 seasons to watch. Don’t think I’m up to that task though.
I just dont see myself being able to finish this the way its going, I mean, I really WANT too because it’s part of my commitment to my space opera binge, but I just can’t suffer through this crap anymore, this show isn’t even Star Trek in spirit. I might actually have to skip over this, go check out the 2009 movie trilogy then hit up Picard then SNW and the animated series.

I’ve always been a James Nesbitt fan, and the release date is January 1, 2026. Can’t wait.
This does not deserve such a high rating of 7.4. more like a 4…if that!
Indeed a very touching episode and well written too. I can relate to Tommy very much; my mother told my brother that she blamed him for ruining her life. Just found this out last year and just solidified all the horrible things she did to us. Yet Tommy has the chance to come to terms with his dad, and it will be interesting to see this take place and wonder if it will change Tommy?

I promise you, as soon as you think Discovery hits rock bottom, the next episode will prove you wrong. It’s the worst ST series. The final wrap up for the series is just utter bullpoop.

We reap what we sow.
and this is even a nicer way as it will be in real life, i’m afraid. because they give humanity a choice. but in reality i guess we keep on until we wipe ourselves out - before somebody else would even consider it.
Who is this Doctor everyone is talking about? I just watched the two first episoded and i loved it. It’s very different, and great potential for remaining eoisodes. One whole week till the next episode, I dont like waiting, the suspense is killing me.
It’s not going to be anything groundbreaking.
Well, from what I have seen so far, it would appear you might have been wrong on this one.
this has potential for sure please dont mess it up. i caught 1 reference to the doctor. “this is worse than workin with the doctor” were there others.? asd for the recent dr who disney is involved, no longer bbc
I caught another one, can’t remember it now, but also just the fact that UNIT and LEFTBRIDGE STEWART Which I might have spelled wrong is actually another one.
This is like watching the worst Karen on earth live her day-to-day life, doing her best to make everyone else miserable … and failing.
Thank you. I feel the same. She was a miserable, insufferable cnt before the “event” and now, she is just the same. Before, she hated writing the stories that paid for her lifestyle. Instead of appreciating and enjoying what it brought her, she bitched and moaned about it and made her partner constantly put up with it. How exasting. She hated the stories that brought joy to her fans. As a writer, it isn’t about you. It’s about pleasing the fans, otherwise just make a blog that nobody reads.

Actually Disney is no longer involved with Doctor Who so when this show airs on Disney+ that’s it for them.
am i the only one out here hoping that Josh is a secret billionaire?
Right? Then I checked online & couldn’t believe how many people are completely sold on the “theory” which is totally incorrect too, to call it that. Because of the obvious, there is no data or facts to build this upon besides there own, which again are not facts or hard data etc. etc. lol
It’s just, life, reality and the unknown area’s within are so much more obscure and mysterious there is really no need to look for fringe fiction. As they say Reality is always stranger than fiction! 🌌 ᱝ・・・・🧠
It’s very irrational and uneducated for sure. I think anyone who’s ever flown pretty high in a plane offers a good rebuff, but then so would also someone like William Shatner who’s gone much further. At an advanced age, too.
Billy Bob Thornton and Sam Elliott scenes together will be awesome
I’m old school Trek, Kirk was the man. However, the Battle at the Binary Stars had some of the coolest battle scenes of all the Treks, movies included. On the other hand, blindly beaming 2 little girls onto an unknown Klingon vessel where ninjas and Navy Seals would fear to tread was ridiculous writing. C’mon, it wouldn’t have happened then, and it definitely wouldn’t have happened aboard Kirk’s Enterprise. When you write sci-fi and push the lamestream media agenda of the week with every episode, even cool sci-fi battle scenes and special effects can’t save the sinking Discovery.
yeah! why DID they get rid of the food auction, that was always the best/most fun, these new seasons are so neutered
Oh man, I’m not going to like seeing the last episode of the season because of the wait in between. I’m getting flashbacks of waiting in between seasons for Walking Dead. This show is soooooo good.

I’m glad Sam Elliot will be getting a larger part.
Big mouth gets 25 thousand seasons and this gets cancelled. 5/5

Knock off Doc Martin, little to no faith in this being anything worthy of the original.
Ironically, Martin Clunes plays the father of the central character, played by Josh Charles.

5mins in and it looks like jamie foxx has a stunt double doing the most basic of fight scenes :(
Dude is pushing 60 and then had a huge health issue before doing this movie. Cut the man some slack. ffs.
